The main project of rehabilitation, reconstruction and modernization of the tram line in Sarajevo on the part of “S” curve near Holiday to Ilidža, with a connection to the railway station, the line through Hamze Hume Streat and branch for tre depo

For the needs of the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton, in the period from 2019 to 2020, the Main project of rehabilitation, reconstruction and modernization of the tram line in Sarajevo was carried out on the part from the “S” curve near the Hotel Holiday do Ilidža with the connection to the Railway Station, the railway through Hamze Hume Street and the branch for the remiza. The investment value of the project is a total of EUR 22 million.

Project characteristics:
The project was carried out in order to reconstruct, rehabilitate and modernize the existing tram line, on the part from the “S” curve near Holiday to Ilidža with a connection to the Railway Station, a turntable at the Railway Station, the track through Hamze Hume Street and a branch for the depo.

The project is divided into LOTs:
Lot 1: Ilidža-Nedžarići (including turntable) with a length of 6324.50m
Lot 2: Nedžarići (exclusively)-Čengić Vila (first half of road crossing) length 5476.90m
Lot 3: Čengić Vila (second half of the road crossing) – “S” curve, length 5360.00m
Lot 4: Technical school-Railway station with triangle length 1055.00m
Lot 5: st. Hamze Hume with entrance switsh 189.42m Lot 6: Depo (including rail connections)

The project includes the following phases:

  • complete replacement of the superstructure of the tram line,
  • subsoil replacement,
  • internal drainage project,
  • rehabilitation with partial replacement of poles and catenary foundations, AKZ protection of poles.

The project includes:

  • the existing tram line, situational and level adjustment of the same to the existing condition and existing dimensions in a separate zone between multi-lane roads in opposite directions and in the part where the tram line collides with the road, with a total length of approx. 28 km of track,
  • situational and level adjustment of 4 turntable (Nedžarići, two at Čengić Vila and one at the railway station) with associated switches.

The project envisages an upper machine made of grooved rail 60R1/ 260 and 290GTH attached with elastic accessories to a reinforced concrete slab with a thickness of 25 cm.
