BiH Rregional Railways Project II

In the period from 2008 to 2013 IPSA INSTITUTE was engaged in projects for improving railway traffic in BiH. The contracting authority was BHRPC BHŽJP, and the investment cost approximately 104 million KM.

Project characteristics:
The project included the following sub-projects:
1 & 2. Track rehabilitation and overhaul within section Konjic – Čapljina – state border, a total of 100 km. The said railway line was subdivided into two projects: Konjic – Raška Gora and Raška Gora – state border. The section comprises 43 tunnels and 22 bridges and viaducts. The line speed is 80 – 90 km/h. There are 13 stations along the line. The replaced track was composed of S-49 rails fastened to wooden sleepers with “K” type fasteners. The track was installed on limestone ballast bed.
3. Track rehabilitation and overhaul within section Jošavka – Kostajnica, a total length of 64 km. The section comprises 2 tunnels, 27 bridges and 40 level crossings. The replaced track was composed of S-49 rails fastened to wooden sleepers with “K” type fasteners. The track was installed on limestone ballast bed.
4. Reconstruction / rehabilitation of the interlocking system within section Konjic – Čapljina – state border. Interstation dependence was established between three types of stations.
5. Reconstruction / rehabilitation of the interlocking system within section Jošavka – Kostajnica, adjustment of signal interlocking and TT systems (signalling, interstation dependence, telecommunications) to allow for the execution of overhaul works.

The project scope included the provision of dependence between stations Rudanka, Stanovi, Dragalovci and Ukrina by installing signal interlocking devices with built-in computer technology support. As for other stations, only outdoor signals and interlocking devices were adjusted to accommodate changes caused by track overhaul works. Other works within this sub-project included: installation of electric switch heaters, the installation of equipment for the interstation dependence system, and the interlocking of four level crossings with electronic equipment.
