The Karaula Tunnel within the Kladanj – Podpaklenik section of trunk road Tuzla-Sarajevo, is 902 meters long, the evacuation tunnel 435 meters and the road in advance of and after the tunnel 1,195 meters. The project works were executed between June 2014 and September 2016. The Client is JP Ceste FBiH, the Contractor Strabag AG from Austria and the Sub-Contractor Entea d.o.o. Sarajevo.
Construction supervision in line with the 1999 Edition of the FIDIC Red Book was carried out by the Consortium made up of Roughton International (Great Britain) and IPSA Institut!
The construction of this section of trunk road Tuzla-Sarajevo with the Karaula Tunnel is three-phased: Construction of two bridges measuring 130 and 150 meters in length respectively (4.3 million BAM) is completed in 2013, construction of the Karaula Tunnel including the road stretch in advance of and after the tunnel (26.9 million BAM), and construction of a 1,506 meters long road and two 279 and 130 meters long bridges. With the completion of a temporary road link with M18, the road section and structures within first two phases were opened to traffic on 27 September 2016!
